PERFOSVITA

The "Center for Performative Education" is a Non-governmental organization that works in crisis regions and with people who are in crisis. Our instruments are education, contemporary art and dialogue. The purpose is democratic development, tolerant society and critical thinking.

About us

For five years, the Center's team has been developing the only political-critical theater in Ukraine — PostPlayTheatre. And in the fall of 2020, we decided to focus on educational and participatory projects in the frontline cities of Eastern Ukraine. For this we have opened a new organization — "Center for Performative Education".

We always work where we really need to. Our projects combine theater, social work, contemporary art, research and therapy. With the help of education and culture, we build a safe space in which shared warmth is born and lost trust is restored in dialogue. A space from which everyone takes a share of heat with them.

Programs

We implement four international programs

Theater for Citizens

The art platform, where the "population" is transformed into a "community". This is a space for dialogue on complex topics for the formation of a community.

Focus of the program: partiсipatory process; social activism; work with memory, personal and collective traumas; working with the past for the future.

PostPlayLab

The performative interdisciplinary laboratory in Kyiv, working in the format of an art residency.

Focus of the program: experience, interdisciplinary research and searching.

Pop-up Institute for Contemporary Art and Therapy

The network of educational and artistic residencies founded on the principles and values of Joseph Beuys' Free International University.

Focus of the program: alternative art education, inclusion and social sculpture ("Soziale Plastik").

The research platform "Semicolon"

Online platform for texts and dialogue about contemporary art, theater, body, city, and space-time.

Focus of the program: lifelong learning; interdisciplinarity; performance studies; art as a science and science as an art.

Joint project of the Theater of Citizens (Kyiv), Agency for Safe Space (Hamburg) and School №3 (Mykolayvka, Donetsk region). Implemented in the program “MEET UP! Youth for Partnership" with the support of the Memory, Responsibility and Future Foundation (EVZ) of the German Federal Foreign Office.
